Staging Productions

We welcome all Directors and Producers to put forward proposals for productions.

When considering a play or musical, be mindful of the most basic element - the stage. The Prospect Playhouse stage has a working area of 28' wide by 30' deep by 16' high. The set has to easily fit into this box and still offer great sightlines into all required areas, somthing which can be an issue with a set that has to be "angled" because its "as written" width requires more than 25 feet. As an example, a play which requires 4 x 8' frontage rooms will not work - that is 32' wide. And reducing the room size to 6' wide is probably going to hurt the look and feel of the play - choose another one!

Speak with an experienced set designer BEFORE licensing a play to ensure that it can be staged. Contact the Theatre Manager at theatremanager@cds.ky for assistance with whom to speak with..
